The preseason is quite the exciting time of the year. Players are fighting tooth and nail for their dreams of making a BCHL roster and as such, anything can happen.
Tonight the Express are at home for Game 3 of the preseason where they host the Surrey Eagles. Tickets will be $10 at the door and you won’t want to miss the chance to see this upcoming season’s team evolve before your very eyes.
Coming off last weekend the Express have some momentum going for them as main camp continues. They dropped a thrilling 3-2 OT decision to the Spruce Kings at home and followed that up with a 3-0 shutout performance against the Rivermen. Nate Crema and Matson Waring did the damage in the first game while Sam Frandina, Trip Pendy and James Shannon filled the net in Saturday’s affair.
As for the goalies from weekend 1, Eric Young stopped 36 of 39 against PG while Mitchell Pearce handled all 28 he faced against Langley. Perhaps this weekend we will see the preseason debut of the pride of Lac Du Bonnet Manitoba.
Surrey is a different beast this season. While they did retain some of their championship players this is a very different roster than last year. Furthermore they have a new bench boss in ex NHLer Scott Gomez who was the teams assistant coach last season. Expect a little bit of everything from this Eagles squad as they continue to search for their identity ahead of this campaign.
If you can’t make it down to the Poirier then be sure to tune in on FloHockey!
