Sam Frandina won’t be the only member of the Express heading to Salmon Arm in January as the BCHL has officially unveiled their Top Prospects roster for All-Star Weekend.
Eric Young and Thomas Zocco have officially cracked this year’s squad and therefore will suit up for the Top Prospects game on Friday, January 17th.
“We’re extremely excited for Younger and Zocs to be a part of the Top Prospects game,” said Head Coach Jeff Wagner. “Eric has been a big part of our early success this year. He makes big saves and gives us a chance to win every night. He’s a guy who approaches every day like a pro. Thomas is an exciting player to watch. He has a slippery skill set and an ability to make big time plays in big time moments. He is a guy we rely on in every situation and we’ve seen his game really mature since the start of the season.”
Eric Young, a 19-year old netminder from Mill Bay, BC, has played more games than anyone this season across the BCHL. He is tied for second in wins with 13 and holds a .893SV% and a 3.20 GAA. To say he is a workhorse is an understatement. The boost of confidence having him in between the pipes has given the team throughout this first half of the season is immeasurable. His jump from third-string goalie last season to one of the premier tenders in the BCHL has been sensational to watch.
Thomas Zocco, an 18 year old forward from Staten Island, New York, is the third highest point getter on the Express with 20 (8G-12A) in 24 games. There is no greater showcase of his offensive skillset than the overtime winner from December 7th in Chilliwack. The puck looks like its on a string when he carries it into the attacking zone and he is also an extremely capable defender.
“We could not be prouder of Eric and Thomas,” stated Express GM and COO Tali Campbell. “This organization expects the best of the players we bring in and they have delivered and then some. To see that effort recognized at the league level is remarkable.”
