The Coquitlam Express are pleased to announce the hiring of Brett Sonne as the team’s new Assistant Coach. Sonne brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the team, both from his distinguished playing career and his coaching tenacity.
Brett Sonne, a native of Maple Ridge, BC, joins the Coquitlam Express with an impressive resume. As a player, he was drafted by the St. Louis Blues in the 3rd round of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft. He enjoyed a successful junior career with the Calgary Hitmen in the Western Hockey League (WHL). Sonne’s professional career includes stints in the American Hockey League (AHL) and in Europe, showcasing his dedication and passion for the game.
After hanging up his skates, Sonne transitioned seamlessly into coaching. His coaching journey includes experience at various levels, where he has developed a reputation for his strategic acumen and ability to mentor young players. Sonne’s commitment to fostering a positive team culture and his deep understanding of the game will be invaluable assets to the Coquitlam Express.
