Tonight’s game was bigger than just a win, it was if you win, you clinch a playoff spot and that is exactly what the players did at the Cowichan Valley Community Centre in front of their dads.
In the first period the Capitals would catch the Express flat-footed and would get the lone goal in the period by Luke Lavery.
The Express would tie the game in the second period by Mirko Buttazzoni assisted by Luke Vardy.
In the third period the Express would find the net three times, first at 3:27 by Mateo Dixon. Second on the powerplay to give some insurance by Ray Hamlin and to end it Blake Setter would score on the empty net.
Brady Smith kicked away 23 of the 24 shots he faced and the Express clinched a playoff spot.
One more game on the road trip tomorrow afternoon against the Victoria Grizzlies.
